Hi Joseph Salisbury, Thanks for coming back to me on this. I did as suggested and tried 3.4-rc1 upstream kernel. It loaded fine on ubuntu. When I tried to reproduce the bug by doing a suspend the laptop froze in black screen (i suppose it was splash screen) and I had to force turn it off by holding the power button. I reverted back to the ubuntu kernels 3.0 which at least sometimes suspend works.
Note: I also installed headers. I don't know if it will make a difference but I am using the proprietary drivers for AMD GPU and the FREE community ones for the WIFI. >From the screenshot I attached it seems to be relevant to the WIFI thus I am >mentioning.
