After a couple daily updates sound running fine on video's. Ill try the checkbox-qt again on the Compaq Presario.
Currently on Thinkpad T40 installed lubuntu, generic no pae, and did an apt-get update ubuntu-desktop which is currently working though slower than the nice fast lubuntu. I can choose on logout/login.
