As a workaround one could try to test if changing the clocksource helps. Command: gksu gedit /etc/default/grub Change line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash clocksource=jiffies" sudo update-grub sudo reboot
