Public bug reported: After upgrading to Precise, my card reader didn't work any more. I have tracked down this problem to pcscd not being started:
- In /etc/init.d/pcscd, the following lines exit the script: # DO NOT start the daemon on startup # comment the line to have the same behavior as in version < 1.6.0 exit 0 - At Ludovic Rousseaus blog at http://ludovicrousseau.blogspot.com/2011/11/pcscd-auto-start-using-systemd.html, it is said that pcscd should now be started by systemd via the following two files: /lib/systemd/system/pcscd.service /lib/systemd/system/ pcscd.socket - However, these files are missing on my installation. - When I run "pcscd -df", everything runs just fine. - This issue is also described here: http://www.gooze.eu/forums/support /important-pcscd-autostart-feature-changed-in-latest-code ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: pcscd 1.7.4-2ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-22.35-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Apr 6 22:17:04 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111011) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_AT:de PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=de_AT.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: pcsc-lite UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: pcsc-lite (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/975482 Title: pcscd not started any more To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcsc-lite/+bug/975482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
