Same problem, also a ThinkPad (x60s).
Random applications, Java, Firefox, Nautilus, ubuntu-bug, Chrome, crash
(usually a segmentation fault). And sometimes create log messages like these:

Reverting back to kernel 3.0.0.17 helps, kernel posted in #10 helps.
