Hello again,
I am posting here in the hope that someone else had similar experience and
had been able to find a solution.

As I already said here I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-FGG, ubuntu feisty
2.6.20-15
I got sound perfectly working after:
- compiling alsa 1.0.14rc3 with patch realtek6
- removing _any_ options from modprobe.d for module snd_hda_intel
- no need for disabling acpi

When I say perfect sound I mean:
1. sound clear and loud
2. internal speakers are correctly switched off when plugging-in headphones
3. External mic works well

BUT: after an update from kernel 2.6.20-15-X to 2.6.20-15-Y with Y>X I got a
wird behaviour when loading snd_hda_intel
1. Extremely loud continued monotonic sound from speakers it seems a car alarm!
2. After a few seconds kernel panic
3. Sound continues until hardware is cruely switched off

Same behavior for latest kernel 2.6.20-16. What I tried doing with no
appreciable results:
1. recompile and install patched alsa 1.0.14 both rc3 and rc4
2. track down what happens to the kernel: it seems that module correctly loads,
but in a couple of secs panic occurs.

I well know that this behavior may be very hard to reproduce or even
understand, so I am not really sure someone can help me, but someone might
suggest what I could do to track this down, or perhaps some of you already have
seen something like this.
Thanks in advance,
 roberto
