Have you tried a patched version of sudo? You can get Jeff's patch from http://www.sudo.ws/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=37 Get the source-package for sudo ("apt-get source sudo" or the latest tarball from http://www.sudo.ws/sudo/download.html), apply the patch, recompile and install (e.g. in /usr/local). You can rename the original sudo (in /usr/bin) to something like /usr/bin/sudo_original and then do "ln -s /usr/local/bin/sudo /usr/bin/sudo". That might solve your problem for the time being.. Of course this issue really needs to be addressed by Ubuntu / gksudo / sudo if more people are to use PAM authentication with Ubuntu.
