gnome-session 2.19.3 has the changelog entry:

- Don't do logout fade if there's a compositing manager running (Ray

I don't know if this will solve this bug - hopefully it will :). If
anyone can test it, it's packaged and waiting to be uploaded when the
freeze ends. Otherwise, you can download it using:
