Hello, Actually, the problem appears to be not reproducible. My computer is always up-to-date (it's the first thing I do every day before working) and the problem happens only once. Whenever I try to reproduce the same scenario, firefox now launches totem without any bug (and totem is still not able to read the wmv file, but this is another problem...) So the gnome applications are not launched as the first time, and incidentally they don't crash :-) Sorry to be unable to help you furthermore for this issue.
