Another user faced similar performance problems with SSH, documented in bug #84849. Again, the problem was solved by disabling mdns4_minimal resolution in nsswitch.conf.
So far, some people benefited from disabling GSSAPI-Authentication, some others had to disable mDNS to regain acceptable performance.
