$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 10.10
Release:        10.10
Codename:       maverick

which is as I expect it: I have not TRIED to upgrade to natty:
I was just trying to install the recommended app upgrades for 10.10

This upgrading of Ubuntu is a wing of CS that I have allowed myself to become
complacent about:
I don't keep all of our machines on the same version,
but have up until now upgraded programs as Update Managers recommends, and as I
get around to them.

We don't all like the UI of Oneiric as much as Maverick, so for this one
machine we've left it at Maverick.

Other than shutting off upgrades, what is a good path to get back in the good
graces of the config manager?
Happy backwater Maverick preferred until it expires.
Thanx if you know.
Rik
