OK, the freeze usually occurs a few seconds after lightdm starts up. I
have worked around this by uninstalling lightdm and instead using startx
to go straight into lxde. Since I no longer get the oops, my current
dmesg probably isn't that useful.

I have attached kern.log.2 and  syslog.2 which contain the relevant
messages, and the other files mentioned in that document.
