Another question. From a running, logged in system, what is the most
definitive way to tell whether you're running 2d or 3d?

I *think* I logged in with 2d on my native MBP, remapped the keys with
xmodmap, and now Alt is behaving (in the sense that it isn't driving me
nuts). But I want to be sure I'm using 2d, and I want to use that desktop a
bit more before I say for sure.
