Hi Colin, I'll perform the checks you suggest, however I doubt the issue is caused by apps performing unwanted writes (I assume that the disk restarting every minute be related to cron activity or so...) as I feel that the issue is not with the disk restarting, but with the disk stopping much too soon (I've actually heard it spin down only some seconds after having been accessed, which is definitely unwanted).
