Seems like Firefox is using a similar technique with its autofill menus as Florence when it comes to focusing. Click into the searchbox in firefox, start typing. As soon as matches are found, a menu opens, florence completely loses focus. Click next letter in Florence, it only turns blue as it usually does onMouseOver. At the same time, the menu disappears from view in firefox. The click only gave focus back to Florence, all letters react onMouseOver. Click the letter again. It gets sent to the input field. If Firefox finds a match, a menu reappears, Florence looses focus again. Rinse, repeat. Same with Firefox's adress bar, but not, as far as I can see, with standard form fields. But: Googles realtime search, where the page gets reloaded as you type, sometimes does the same. I even tried to tell Compiz to raise and focus the window under the mouse after 150ms, but it can't do that with florence, since florence itself isn't really focusable. Also mentionable: Onboard doesn't show this behavior.
