Public bug reported:

When I plug external speakers (powered with its own power supply) or
head phones through the jack socket I can hear no sound from my laptop
speakers nor the plugged speakers. What's going on? How can I solve this
on my machine? What configuration file to tinker with?

Thank you for any kind of genuine help :)
