I currently have gnome-shell 3.3.90-0ubuntu1installed from the update recently, and am now unable to render gnome-shell as described in post 1. I am unable to determine if this is the package which causes gnome- shell to fail to load, however the symptoms are as described, and have appeared for me within the last update period.
