ok, I'm confirming that rt61 may completely hang your pc (even right after boot while or just before displaying GDM) under certain circumstances. I can't say *which*, though, what I know is that in some rooms of my university I had too boot *without* acpi=force irqpoll so that rt61 was (indirectly) disabled
