libdrm-nouveau1 is only present in lucid and maverick, and not in any
later releases. This part of the log also seems to confirm that this is
an upgrade to maverick:

Package gir1.0-mutter-2.31 has broken Conflicts on gir1.0-mutter-2.28
  Considering gir1.0-mutter-2.28 -1 as a solution to gir1.0-mutter-2.31 1
Added gir1.0-mutter-2.28 to the remove list
Fixing gir1.0-mutter-2.31 via remove of gir1.0-mutter-2.28

Since gir1.0-mutter-2.28 is only in lucid, and gir1.0-mutter-2.31 is
only in maverick.

Feroz, can you confirm whether you were trying to upgrade to Ubuntu
10.10 here? Note that Ubuntu 10.10 will reach end of life within a
month; I would recommend staying with Ubuntu 10.04 and upgrading to
12.04 instead once it's released.
