A friend just brought his Acer Travelmate 2350 notebook over asking me to 
remove WinXP and install a Linux OS. I tried to boot it with a Live DVD of 
Linux Mint 12, and Linux Mint 11, and in both instances got only as far as :
 Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!
Removing the battery resulted in the same.

It's getting to the point that I am reluctant to recommend a Linux OS to
my friends as each upgrade seems to introduce problems which remain
unresolved.
