Addressing reproducibility, I had facebook and a private business chat open. I suspended the computer (turns off network) and restarted computer (turns network on), producing the crash. This is not reproducible in a dependable way, however, empathy occasionally crashes and I haven't paid attention to a possible cause before this incident. Toggling the radio off/on just now didn't cause the problem.
