Workaround by Edit vmplayer preferences file at "~/.vmware/preferences". Add the following line: pref.vmplayer.exit.vmAction = "disconnect" After starting up the virtual manchine, close vmwareplayer windows. Rdp or vnc to the guest instead of using vmware windows.
