As far as I understand this bug was fixed in Precise. (See milestone:> unity 5.4.0 "Brass Monkey" in the header of this thread.) In Oneiric which has unity version 4.28.0-0ubuntu2 it is not fixed yet. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. Until it is fixed You could try some of the workarounds mentioned in comments #12,#18.
