Well, using the option "noacpi acpi=off apm=on" didn't work nor did any other variation. I tried Xubuntu with in every variation as well with no success. When I reduced the resolution and color to the lower setting (using F4) it got far enough to show Ubuntu (or Xubuntu when I tried that) image with the progress bar bouncing left and right. Of course it never got past that screen.
Then I finally decided to use another distribution, and that is when I found Debian. Debian installed just fine although I could not recognize my Conextant modem or my Belkin wireless G plus MIMO PCMCIA card. Apparently you need internet access to install internet access... Anyway I posted my issue with Debian on a Debian forum: http://www.debianhelp.org/node/7623 Since Debian did get farther than Ubuntu or Xubuntu I probably won't go back to trying those again. Although it would be nice to know why Debian works and those do not, I thought they were based on Debian. -- Ubuntu freezes on install on my Laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/114470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
