Mike, do you mean that your machine is still running, only screen/keyboard/mouse is blocked? In this case, the drm output is not so interesting, because there is no system crash. It's just the X server going nuts. We should try to find out what the X server is doing, for instance using strace, ltrace or gdb.
I am not saying that this is gonna be easy, but if you're interested, look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and install the package xorg-server/xserver-xorg-core-dbgsym.
