Public bug reported:

Running Precise and the latest updates seems to have stopped the print
screen key to function correctly. Pressing the print screen key you
hear a 'click' noise but no image or dialogue is displayed or saved to
where I can find them. The only way to get an print screen to work is to
run it from the command line gnome-screenshot -i. This was working up
to a few days ago
