I have been using an ASRock A75 Extreme6 and I have found the same
problem.  As I am using this for a server the fix for me is to add the
nomodeset  or radeon.modeset=0 kernel option.  You can do this from the
grub menu just press "e".  You could also blacklist the radeon module.
This will stop the radeon module setting the mode incorrectly.  If you
need a graphical interface this work around will probably not work.
