Ok, the bug seems to already have been reported and is similar to the one that crashes Firefox. The crashes are caused by the spellchecker. Here's the console output when launching oowriter through CLI: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ oowriter (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed (process:7087): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.2/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:7087): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion `GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libspell680li.so: undefined symbol: _ZN8Hunspell5spellEPKc Here are the similar bugs I found: bug #114199<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/114199> bug #112901<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/112901> bug #111940 <https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hunspell/+bug/111940> Disabling the spellchecker has indeed solved the problem. I hope this will be solved soon. :/ On 5/24/07, John Zoidberg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > No, even after complete removal through synaptic and renaming > ~/.openoffice.org2 to something else, the problem persists after > reinstallation. > I can now open OO writer without it asking for any file recovery, but as > soon as I start typing a few letters in the new doc opened by default, it > crashes (OO window closes)... :( > > > On 5/24/07, John Zoidberg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > Sorry for replying so late.
