Thanks for explaining what compiz really is. I'm sure it's not an issue for people using "real" cpus. But for me on my atom n270 netbook, I just can't spare the cycles.
I've switched to lubuntu desktop. I like it it. I think Unity 3D is nice, and it was quite usable even on my hardware.
