Thanks Walter, I removed gnome-screensaver and installed xscreensaver and the screen still dims w/o being able to wake it up.
In particular, I tested by: 1. apt-get update/upgrade, replacing gnone-screensave w/ xscreensaver 2. Logout (to LDM) 3. Wait some amount of time 4. Screen dims 5. No keys (including brightness keys) will wake up the display 6. Blindly type in my password 7. Once logged in, brightness keys work David -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876522 Title: black screen when dim screen to save power To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/876522/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
