Public bug reported: After an upgrade (using the update-manager) from 10.04 (netbook edition) to 12.04 (development) there seems to be a mixture of GRUB legacy and GRUB 2 packages on my system:
The new 3.x kernels only were incorporated into /boot/grub/menu.lst but the selection shown at boot time obviously is that of /boot/grub/grub.cfg which was not changed during dist upgrade and still only shows 2.6.x kernels. My GRUB packages: hans@netbook:~$ dpkg -l | grep grub ii grub 0.97-29ubuntu65 GRand Unified Bootloader (Legacy version) ii grub-common 1.99-14ubuntu2 GRand Unified Bootloader (common files) rc grub-pc 1.98-1ubuntu6 GRand Unified Bootloader, version 2 (PC/BIOS version) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: update-manager 1:0.155.2.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.90-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Jan 12 20:35:03 2012 GsettingsChanges: com.ubuntu.update-manager first-run false com.ubuntu.update-manager launch-time 1325339666 com.ubuntu.update-manager show-details true InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429.4) PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: update-manager UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2011-12-31 (12 days ago) ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug dist-upgrade i386 precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/915591 Title: mixture of GRUB legacy and GRUB 2 after dist-upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/915591/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
