Daniel: I may have been unclear, I've always reboot'ed after each upgrade from your ppa. F.example when I came back from xmas and upgraded from vv8 -> vv10 I tok a reboot, and I did the same now after downgrading (I rebooted) . A reboot always help, and as described initially in this bug report I see gradual degradation over time (days) . My computer was running on vv8 over xmas (more than a week) and I saw no degradation, but vv10 gave me degradation for each day in the span 2nd jan. -> 9th jan.
