Ahh, that explains why you have been confused. Yes, it sounds like it. I'm afraid it might have been a once-off crash. If it happens again, I'll certain report it and watch the apport process more carefully.
As I recall, I had one gnome-terminal window open, then I used the menu to open another 'profiled' session, and about the time that the second window showed up, I spotted the 'apport' window, with something about how it was gathering information... I think the gnome-terminal windows were unresponsive after that (I can't be sure if *both* of them were). Then I closed them, and apport had opened a Launchpad web page, which I filled in after quickly checking for related bugs. Not sure that helps at all. If it happens again, I'll report it.
