** Description changed: Release: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric User Interface: gnome 3.2 loginmanager: lightdm After logout from gnome-shell the system keeps running, while the screen is totally black. What i expected to happen is seeing the lightdm login shell. Entering the password is logging in the user again, but there is no visual response to entering the password and pressing enter, before the desktop appears. Gnome Shell has been installed using the Ubuntu Software Center. The whole login works as designed when booting the system. The background-image used in lightdm has been changed using the configuration file, so that it is using a different image form another path. After booting the image is shown properly as background of the login manager. The image does not seem to be a problem, as other users report the same behaviour, using standard settings in lightdm.
