Public bug reported:

When trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit Server the installation crashes at
"select and install software" and the installer shows the "installation step
failed" error. This only happens when the partition which contains "/" is a
btrfs, when i try the same thing on ext4 everything works.
I tried this on 2 different machines they both have the same problem. The
following info might also be useful:
- the /-partion is my third partition, my first is /boot on ext4 and the 2nd is
swap, the 3 partitions are on 1 disk
- I tried installing from cd,usb-stick and PXE
- the installation step where the base install happens works fine, and when i
launch a shell i can see that /target contains a base install
- Installation of the grub bootloader also fails, but this might be because it
happens just behind the "select and install software" step
- Altough i'm choosing the expert install, i follow the installation steps in
the right direction
- In the step before "select and install software" where you can check what you
want to install, i check everything (multiverse, security, extra,...)

** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
