Dear Christopher, thank you for the extensive information provided. I was unaware that there is an Ubuntu approved font, this is why I resorted to an external source, the only one known to me. I will immediately go about installing and trying the Ubuntu-font. If I still encounter problems, which I don't expect, I will send more feedback. All in all, I have been supremely happy with Ubuntu in the past, I have been using it almost exclusively since 8.04.
