Took me some time because I already removed Ubuntu 11.10 from my system. So I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 11.10 again (reusing my existing home partition) and the problem was still there.
Unfortunately, HaoCS' solution didn't work for me, though I only did step 1. I didn't see the point of step 2, so I left that one out. There was no need for me to reconfigure Compiz, as my Compiz settings are still intact after running `unity --reset`.
