OK, I blacklisted the modules, they were not loaded and I was unable to trigger the lockup again. Tried several times.
So do you think it's rather a problem with the restricted driver module than with cool 'n' quiet? Just to make sure this is really the case I reinstalled the system using a desktop CD of feisty. When running the live system I found out the vesafb module running. I started the installer but the system locked up. I tried this twice, the second lockup occured at different percentage than the first one. Then I disabled cool 'n' quiet in the BIOS. The installer completed succesfully. After booting to the fresh gnome desktop I switched to virtual console #1 and after executing a few commands a smiliar stack trace appeared and the system was unresponsive.
