After my previous comment, I realized I had not run apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, so I did that on the command line and a lot of updates were installed. Still, after restarting sudo ppa-purge ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa gives the same warning as before. Warning: Could not find package list for PPA: xorg-edgers ppa And the update manager gives the same error.
