Sorry I haven't had time for this as this occurs on my work computer. I quickly tested the problem again and it seems that it is fixed by some kernel update. For 3.0.0-13-generic the hibernate seems to work now.
** Description changed: What I expected: Computer wakes up after hibernate normally and everything is as it was before hibernating. What happened: When putting computer into hibernate: ata7.01 failed to resume link (SControl0) ata7.02 failed to resume link (SControl0) ata7.03 failed to resume link (SControl0) ata7.04 failed to resume link (SControl0) is printed. Powering up after hibernate does something (reads hard disk at least), but shows only a blank screen. After a while the computer reboots normally (as if it was never hibernated) and everything that was going on before hibernating is lost.
