Thanks for looking into this Sven. On my system, there is only one instance of syndaemon open when the touchpad starts acting up, so this does not appear to be the cause for me. Sven, do you experience erratic mouse behavior after the pointer unfreezes, and does synclient TouchpadOff=0 work for you?
