I seem to have the same problem: I'm trying to print from an ubuntu machine (11.10) to a windows IPP server with authentication (IPP over http, without encryption). The client never asks for authentication details and printing fails. Running wireshark shows the print server returns an "HTTP 401 Unauthorized" response with a "WWW-Authenticate:" header that the client appears to ignore.
I tried printing (and setting up the printer) under unity and kubuntu -- both showed the same symptoms. Compiling CUPS 1.5.0 with the patch above didn't help, but manually downgrading to 1.4.6 (from natty) did solve this problem (at least to the extent that the client asks for a username/password and successfully sends data to the print server). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879625 Title: CUPS fails to request authentication when printing over IPP w/ TLS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/879625/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
