In case this information helps any, I am now getting only 1-2 frames per second in glxspheres (which is using a whole CPU core). The rest of the desktop is quite responsive, though.
I'm using compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu6, unity 4.24.0-0ubuntu2b1+nogeis and the xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0+git20111125.16f5e224-0ubuntu0sarvatt~oneiric from xorg-edgers. If I run glxspheres through the nvidia card via virtualgl, I get around 60fps (compared to 100-120 fps normally). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861061 Title: [regression] Unity makes 3D apps run much slower.
