Guess what? The global menu isn't dead! I like Treviño's proposal too! It can motivate all apps to have an app button like Chromium!
Make the app buttons customizable to programmers, not to users. If it isn't customizable to programmers, menu items will be one more click away (one File click becomes one Menu click, then one File click).
