I'm using the English/US locale.. I tried numerous times to use "calc" with no response. However, I just changed my video driver down one notch to Nvidia Current Recommended and also installed kubuntu-desktop to access from the login menu.. I've no idea if that made any difference or the updates that I had for the system today.... but now it works.. Go Figure! So looks like now we could mark this bug as fixed / solved or .....
