In the Grub boot-loader I removed "quite" and "splash" kernel boot
options. And this was the last error message I saw before screen froze:
fb: conflicting fb hw usage radeondrmfb vs EFI VGA - removing generic
driver

If I add "nomodeset" to the kernel boot options then I am able to get
past that error message and atleast have access to command line. If I do
xstart then then it complained with "Screen(s) found, but none have a
usable configuration."

By the way I have MacBookPro 8,2 with external AMD graphics card.
