Oh, bumb, I loved that behavior. It was how the Grid plugin has always worked. It is specially useful with widescreen monitors. I normally use 1/3 of the screen for a terminal and the other 2/3 for a browser, ide, etc.
I guess what remains is to make the other movements consistent. Move Top /Bottom-Left/Right do split in half every time they are used. I thought it was a bug since the behavior I described was available previous to the lasted update.
