Hi Allessandro, three years is not an age for a graphiccard!! more than 10 years would be something, where I would say this is old. But not in your case as well as mine. My Laptop is also only nearly two years old. And for a Notebook, this is also not a real age!!! I experienced the same problem with my Graphiccard, I posted in LinuxMint 9. So I had to install this ppa-repository and that helped me out of a mess with my nvidia-card. For me, the display-resolution was way to big in that former release of LinuxMint. But since this new driver has been publised, I do not have these problems anymore. And on this link they also write that it can be possible, that LinuxMint, Ubuntu and its derivates do not support such so new cards properly and that's why this ppa-repository is really recommended.
The change of your graphiccard would only be for the very worst case, if this ppa-repository won't help you out of your problem. I don't think, that reopening this bug would help a lot. First try that hint with this ppa-repository. But if that should not help, then you should really think about changing that one.
