Public bug reported:

When I drag and drop, for example dragging a segment of text to another
area of my document, I often hit the border of my trackpad. If I don't
get the text back to the same place it came from before releasing the
drop, the text gets dropped somewhere where I don't want it and have a
hard time finding. There are other drag and drop scenarios where the
drop must be aborted. One possible fix would be to have a setup option
to assign a privileged location on the trackpad (e.g., lower right
corner) such that while I press a finger there while I have another
finger currently engaged in a drag, the trackpad suspends the reporting
of the drag fingers position. This allows me to move the drag finger
away from the border without affecting the drag operation underway (it
will be held in suspension as well). When I lift my finger from the
privileged location, the reporting resumes and I have plenty of trackpad
realestate to complete the drag operation.
