This really needs to be fixed. I've been using backspace to go back for years, both in Windows using IE, then Windows using Firefox, then Ubuntu using Firefox, and suddenly it stops working? wtf? I think the dataloss argument is an edge case at best, and certainly not justification for removing such a well-known and important navigational shortcut.
